AMBER & J.D.

DIY

A lot of little things for the wedding we are going to Do It Yourself.  I have already started and finished a lot of projects.

Gift Card Box

I wanted to make my own gift card box for the gift table.  I made this myself with a regular cardboard box, spray paint, paper mache flowers, lavender ribbon, self stick rhinestones, and the CARDS sign was made with card stock and letter stickers.  All of the craft supplies I bought at Michaels.

Reception Road Sign

The reception is going to take place at my parents house in Creedmoor.  Since the house is far back from the road, and the driveway can be easily missed, I wanted a sign to put down by the end of the road pointing to the driveway.  I saw a picture of a wooden antiquey sign and used that as inspiration for the sign that me and JD made.

We bought the unfinished, pre-cut wood from Lowes.  The wood needed to be stained and painted on so I bought the stain, polyurethane, sandpaper, acrylic paint, and paint brushes from Michaels.
The second picture has the sign on a stake, that we are going to stick in the ground.

Bubble Wands

For the "send off" at the end of the night we decided to go with Bubble Wands since it was easy cleanup and would make beautiful pictures!  I didn't want plain bubble wands so I decided to dress them up.  I bought skinny lavender and ivory ribbon from Michaels and tied each bubble wand with a bow.  I bought a cute green basket from the dollar store to put the wands in.

Bathroom Basket

I came across the idea of a bathroom basket while on The Knot website.  This is a basket you put in the bathroom and it contains any essentials that a guest might need while at the reception.  It should contain things like safety pins, breath mints, deodorant, floss, tissues, etc.  Since the reception is at my parents house I couldn't think of an easier thing to make.  I bought the basket from the Dollar Store, and the supplies came from Walgreens and Rite Aid.  I figured I could just keep the basket at my parents house once I am done.

Door Hanger

The night before the wedding I am staying at the Homewood Suites in Raleigh.  For the day of the wedding I wanted to decorate a door hanger to say "Brides Room."  The night of the wedding JD and I are both staying at the hotel, and I wanted the other side of the door hanger to say "Just Married."  I bought the door hanger, acrylic paint, and stickers all from Michaels.

Bar Menu

At the reception there is going to be a bar with a bartender serving non alcohol and alcoholic drinks.  I wanted a menu that the guests could read all the drinks that are available.  I bought a regular 8x10 picture frame, and a lavender matte from Michaels, and printed off the menu from Word.  Before the wedding I am going to try and find some ivory paper and reprint the menu on that so that it matches the wedding colors.
